first-lessonDublin’s newest port tunnel is not far from here and we will take you through this in your driving lessons with us so we can show to you what to do when entering and driving in a tunnel.

You will learn with us that all the general rules apply here but there are a few extra safety that must be applied when you are approaching, driving through and exiting a tunnel as like the Dublin Port Tunnel.

When approaching the tunnel always check that you have enough fuel in your vehicle so that you don’t end up stuck in the tunnel as this could cause a serious problem in the tunnel.

If you’re wearing sunglasses remove them and also switch on your dipped headlights as there will not be any daylight in the tunnel.

Always adhere to keeping your safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you and remember your two-second rule which we will teach you on your lessons with us.

When in the tunnel keep in lane and do not overtake and never attempt to stop or reverse your vehicle in a tunnel. If you need to stop in the case of an emergency then find a safe place to do so and put your hazard lights on with your warning triangle at the rear of your vehicle.

There are many safety procedures you must follow if you need to stop in a tunnel and we will go through these in greater detail in your driving lessons.

As you can see from these few points here there are a few other things that you must do when you have to negotiate a tunnel but nothing too major. As in all your driving lessons with us we will never complicate things for you.

We will teach you in a way that makes everything practical, easy and straightforward and never will you hear the words difficult, hard, awkward and complicated.

This is why our past students get through their driving test with a pass result first time every time because we make driving fun, easy, safe and enjoyable.
