On your very first driving lesson you will be taken to a relatively quiet area near your location or pick up point and here you will be shown what you need to know under the bonnet of the car.
Things such as how to check the level of your oil, where to put the water for your window screen washer, where your car battery is located.
Then we will get you into the driver’s seat and take you through what we call the cockpit drill. This covers everything you need to know about the controls of your vehicle and how to use and operate everything.
Your safety procedures will also be explained, such as putting on your seat belt and checking mirrors etc.

You will then be shown how to change gear and how to move off and stop the car. After all this is clear in your head you will then be asked to turn the car on and move off and stop the car. This is the exciting bit for all learner drivers and it’s the moment they never forget.
There are of course many other things not listed above that you will need to do but this is just a quick summery of what your first driving lesson will be like.
